HEAVY HORSE
Highland Show 2006
(How fortunate... we are)
Generously forged, your mighty frame,
Strength born to serve, to shoulder plough,
With selfless heart, you oblige you labour
For friendly words... a fondled brow.
Humbled, I stand in your presence,
As I stare into your watchful eye,
Nuzzling my hand... such gentle motion,
How delicate... you tolerate and gratify
Not all mankind, bore calming words,
Times when heart, and soul were tooled,
As muscle broke frosted soil and sheer pin,
Your strength, your duty, pulling through.
I leave you now my regal friend,
Truly grateful to your many horsemen,
Their care, passion and dedication,
Ensuring your continued, salvation.
